Starting from the information in the Project Charter and Project Scope Statement, we drill in to our scope information and identify the deliverables in greater detail for our project. We break the deliverables down into components and subcomponents, so that we can better estimate durations, resources, and costs.
The definition of a deliverable from the PMBOK® Guide is: Any unique and verifiable product, result, or capability to perform a service that is required to be produced to complete a process, phase, or project.
As the definition states, any deliverables defined for the project must be verifiable. In other words, there must be a way to determine whether the deliverable meets the criteria that are established for successful completion.
