There are two kinds of scope: Product scope and Project scope. Both of these must be incorporated into the project schedule.

Product scope is what the project is creating. It includes all of the features and functionality that have been identified as requirements for the project output. Product scope is often described in a requirements document or specification.

Project scope is what must be done to create the product scope. It is the work that must be performed in order to produce the project output. It includes things such as planning, documentation, training, reporting, managing risk, and managing change.

Product scope is what we are making and project scope is how we are making it.

Product scope completion is measured against the product requirements. Project scope completion is measured against the project management plan.
